Dental Implants
Dental Implants are made of 3 parts:
1) A Titanium post: Substitues a tooth's root and is surgically placed into the jawbone
2) An Abutment: Placed on top of the implant as a healing "cap". Gum tissue heals around the surgical site.
3) An implant crown: Once gums heal, final abutments are placed so the prosthetic crown can be connected to the implant post

Types of Dental Implant Prosthesis
Single Tooth Implant
A single prosthesis crown replaces a single missing tooth
Fixed Implant Bridges
Fixed Implant Bridge prosthesis can replace two or more teeth and may require 2 or more implants
Full Bridge Implants
A complete fixed bridge prosthesis replaces teeth for an entire arch. This may require 6-8 implants per arch
Implant Retained Dentures
A removable implant prosthesis, called an over-denture, attaches to dental implants like a "snap-on".

The type of implant (or implants) and the type of prosthesis that you need depends on multiple factors. Your Loyal dentist will assess, evaluate, discuss and come up with the best option tailored to you.
